The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a new backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their steady trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the essence of society through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, daring style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
