The relatives of teenagers lost after a deadly inferno at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for any details about their family members via social media.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed images show the roof structure catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have warned that it could take an extended period to identify the victims of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. Officials noted on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work continuing to locate the other six.

In the meantime, relatives have been taking to online platforms to appeal for information about their loved ones who were in attendance that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Missing
